If a blocked site is ruining your happiness, then this is what you should do. The easiest way to get around a block though is to use an online proxy site. There are tonnes of them and the more popular ones like anonymizer.com are themselves often blocked. I recommend www.projectbypass.com. Enter that URL and type in the blocked site and you are on your way!

The simplest method that I want to show you is best suited for the sites, which have been blocked for pictures rather than text. Just go to any of the big sites that offer web page translation like google, babel fish or freetranslation.com and translate the page from English to any other language.

If you want the text as well, then you have to rack your brains to decipher the URL and tweak it to get an English-to-English translation. However to prevent having to keep typing every address into an online proxy site, you would do best to permanently connect to a proxy server. This gives you unlimited access to a site including its Flash or video components.

The free version is slow but works and if you fork out some cash you get a lightening fast proxy. Just start the programme and then go to your browser and change the proxy server settings to server: localhost and port:1080 and you'll then be surfing the net through an ISP in a country you can't pronounce!
